What to Wear for your Photoshoot?

#1 Solid Colors

Wear solid colors over patterns. Patterns can be distracting and can cause distortions. Solid colors give you a very clean and simple look.

#2 Colors that Compliment Each Other

It's okay to wear that bright red dress, or emerald green blouse, or teal button up. A pop of color is always fun. Just keep in mind that colors and light reflect. So if you wear a bright orange shirt, your skin tone may have an orange under-glow. Neutral or earthy colors are always a great choice when you are not sure what to wear: Such as, blacks, browns, beige, navy, sage, whites, or gray.

#3 Shoes

Clean shoes can help minimize distractions. This does not mean you have to go out and buy new shoes, but give your current shoes a good scrub! Also, wearing shoes that compliment each other will look best. You don't want to be wearing converse and cow boy boots together, unless its a very particular photoshoot. For example, wearing all tennis, all flats, all boots, all sandals, or all barefoot can really give your photos a nice look.

#4

Wrinkle-Resistant

Choose fabrics that are wrinkle-resistant to maintain a polished appearance. Wrinkles can show in photos and cannot always be edited out, so start out fresh!

#5 It's Okay not to Match

Some people feel that the entire group should be wearing matching outfits. Sometimes this is okay, like everyone wearing matching pajamas for a holiday photo. But having everyone wear something a little different can really make your photos come to life. If you have people wear different colors, have them wear colors that compliment each other: such as, green, white, brown, black, and beige; OR navy blue, white, and beige; OR yellow, green, black, and white go well together.

#6

Jewelry

Keep it simple and classic. Big chunky necklaces and earrings or excessive jewelry can be distracting or cause glares and reflections. Simple and petite jewelry will help to minimize any distractions. Wearing no jewelry is very flattering as well, so don't be scared to show off just you!
